Oh if only the Vikings could hold it together until February 3, 2018! For fans of the sometimes beleaguered, semi-local Minnesota footballers, that would be a dream come true.

I work with one of those rabid Vikings fans and every year since 1977 he's had his heart broken by "his" team. Now the news that Jimmy Fallon is bringing the Tonight Show to Minneapolis for a live broadcast after the Super Bowl, may add special poignance to the situation; especially if the Vikings end up in the seats at U.S. Bank Stadium on February 3rd, instead of on the field.

Fallon announced the special, post-Super Bowl appearance on his show last night (November 14) and also on Twitter. I wish with all my might that the Vikings end up in the Super Bowl, not only because Jimmy Fallon will be there but because it would make my buddy's year!

But even as I say this, I hear my late mother's voice in my head saying something she always would, when I expressed a wish; "If wishes were horses, even beggars would ride!" Which of course, was her not-so-subtle way of reminding me that life would rarely turn out the way I imagined or wanted.
