Jackson Motorplex 360 Nationals Won by Jack Dover

The Labor Day weekend of auto racing was highlighted with a three night sprint car event at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota. It was the Midwest Power Equipment 360 Nationals.

The sprint cars limited to an engine size of 360 cubic inches were involved in an intense battle that spanned from Friday night thru Sunday with the winner coming away $10 thousand richer.

That driver was Jack Dover from Eagle, Nebraska. He drives the #53 sprinter. He is so tall, you would think he's a basketball player.

Dover not only has a winning car, but also a winning smile and a pretty cool personality. He is nicknamed "The Gasman" for his love of speed.

He displayed that passion after winning Friday night's main event and accumulating the most preliminary points. Then winning Sunday's dash to earn the top starting spot for the championship race.

He battled with fellow competitor Terry McCarl midway thru the race. There were two red flags late in the race that bunched the cars back up.

During this, Thomas Kennedy passed both McCarl and Lee Grosz to move into the runner-up position with only seven laps remaining. While Dover maintained the top spot, Kennedy stayed within striking distance as the top two drivers were separated by less than two tenths of a second heading into the final lap.

Kennedy crossed the finish line second with Grosz third, McCarl fourth and Saturday’s feature winner Gregg Bakker fifth. See complete results.
