PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Attorney General Marty Jackley says Sioux Falls police and the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office have been awarded $5,000 to help with drug apprehension efforts.

The attorney general's office announced the funds from the Drug Control Fund on Thursday. Jackley says the money is going to the CrimeStoppers program.

He says the Drug Control Fund helps police combat drug abuse by funding local programs with funds seized from drug arrests.

Sioux Falls Police Chief Matthew Burns says the money helps to fight activities related to drugs in the city and the county.

Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead says it's fitting to use funds seized from drug traffickers to help with public safety.
