It’s the continuing story of a downtown thoroughfare. This installment will be almost as disruptive as the previous one.

In 2014, westbound traffic was pinched to one lane over the Big Sioux River at Tenth Street in the heart of Sioux Falls. That was due to the reconstruction of Second Avenue on both sides of the intersection.

A year later the project will continue southward and affect eastbound traffic on Eleventh Street. One lane of traffic will be used to shuttle vehicles through this intersection with no traffic allowed to enter or exit Eleventh Street.

By all projections, this project will take less time than last year’s reconstruction. The fixing is slated for mid-June completion for this year, while drivers waited an extra month for clean passage last year. Granted there will be less surface area disrupted in 2015 with this project.

You can get a better feel for the scope of the project with a little video tour below. You can see the exact place where the new construction gets started this year.
