You couldn’t get away from Watergate in 1973 and 1974.  The congressional hearings on TV.  The press conferences where nothing was asked about except Watergate. And the names, the phrases, the jokes and the tears.

The 18 1/2 minute gap.  ‘I am not a crook’.  The tapes.  Always the tapes.

And the players.

Dean. Erlichman. Haldeman. Mitchell. Liddy. So many more.

And finally, of course, the President.

Richard Milhouse Nixon became the first (and so far only) President to resign from office in disgrace.

It was announced on the Evening News, August 8, 1974.
