Inmate Who Left South Dakota Prison Captured in Florida
YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say a 51-year-old inmate who left a minimum-security prison in South Dakota earlier this month has been captured in Florida.
The U.S. Marshal's Service says Richard Beckwith was picked up Friday at a home in Jacksonville, Fla.
Richard Beckwith was being sought on a warrant from Yankton County charging him with escape. He had been serving a 10-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance out of Minnehaha County when he walked away from the facility in Yankton.
Authorities say Beckwith's extensive criminal history involved numerous theft and burglary charges, assaults and a previous conviction for escape.
