Those guys at WalletHub are at it again and again South Dakota comes out on top - almost. South Dakota is the second most charitable state in a country that is tied with Myanmar as the most charitable country in the world!

According to stats from the National Philanthropic Trust 95.4 percent of American households donate to charity, contributing an average of over $2,900 dollars each! Last year Americans gave more than $335 billion dollars to charity, of which 72 percent came directly from individuals.

That is something to be proud of on this "Giving Back Day 2014".

But not only did South Dakotans give from their wallets, but also of their time with the 7th highest volunteer rate in the country! Ben and I have been blessed to be involved with a large number of charitable organization and have always suspected this about our fellow South Dakotans, but it is quite special to see it in print with concrete numbers to prove it.

So kudos to all givers who share their time and quite often, hard-earned cash, with those less fortunate. Our little corner of the world suddenly feels more cozy. Take a look at the complete report here and let's keep up the good work!
