Ever since "The Streak" hit radio airwaves, Ray Stevens has been on a roll! The 12 time nominated and two-time Grammy Award Winner has provided over 50 years of comedic musical talent. I just spoke with Ray in Nashville!

"I was always having fun and enjoying what I do. I love making records. I'm an entertainer first and for most. Comedy songs have always been an attraction for me. I've kind off become known for that kind of music. That's fine. I'm all right with that. I do you know record other types of music. But by and large people know me for the comedy songs like 'The Streak,' 'Ahab The Arab' and "Gitarzan.'"

So, just where does Ray gets his songwriting ideas?

"Well sometimes I get the idea just out of the blue. I don't know where. But a lot of times friends will come up with ideas and help me write the songs,,,giving me the complete songs they have written. I"m not exclusively tied to my own songs. I'll cut the best song no matter who writes it."

And that's just what Ray did in his just released recording "Here We Go Again."

"One of the songs is "Taylor Swift Is Stalkin' Me." There are actually three writers on the song. I'm one of them. But, the guy that had the idea was not me. He was one of the other writers. I think you have to be open to get the best material in this business."

Although it's been awhile Ray is finally back on the road.

"I've been off the road for about two years. I just signed with an agency. We'll be starting early spring booking shows. I'm putting the band back together right now. We've already played a couple of things around Nashville to get our feet wet. I'm really looking forward to it."

Throughout his career, Ray Stevens has sold more than 40 million albums and continues daily operations at his home base in Music City.  In light of his latest recording project, the country music funnyman is sure to be back on the radio with his own special humor!

You can hear the Ray Stevens interview during this week's I Love Life program daily at 12:50 PM on Classic Country KXRB.
