I love honest-to-goodness real country music on the radio. And I love honest-to-goodness real country music played live. If you're thinkin' that kind of thing is off somewhere in the dust bin of your memory, well shake those cobwebs off because I have great news!

On my radio show I love promoting the local/area/regional bands that keep it country. And one of those bands is the Chute Rooster Band. These guys are not afraid to crank up that real country music! Plus, has it been a while since you've heard a great steel guitar live? Well, my friend (and former co-worker) Don Saxton plays one mean steel!

But rather than me blathering on about the band, I just went to their website and found this:

This five-piece country band brings fresh music to the dance floor. Along with familiar songs are new ones that will quickly become favorites. It's music made for listening and dancing. Daryl, Perry, and Jay decided in late 2013 to put together a country band like no other that eastern South Dakota has seen in decades. They wanted strong vocals with spectacular harmony, a solid rhythm section, and--of course--a steel guitar. Enter Donnie. Unlike true "chute roosters" who position themselves on rodeo chutes and talk about how everything should be done, these five experienced musicians know how to produce high quality music. They practiced for over a year in Daryl's basement to become a unit. They cover artists as diverse as Billy Currington, Gene Watson, Billy Yates, George Strait, and Prairie Oyster Band. Their songs include "People Are Crazy," "14-Carat Mind," "Blue Wing," "Trick Rider," and "Got a Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do."

So if you're looking for some great country music in the Sioux Falls area, check the Chute Rooster Band website often to find out where the guys are playing. Oh, and bring your dancing shoes, too!
