Even though there might be more winter weather in our forecast, believe it or not, summer will eventually get here.  And if you are one of those parents that are already dreading hearing the words, "Mom, I'm bored" about the second week of summer break, there are some summer camps that could help you out, especially if you have a high school student.  And there's even more good news, these camps could help your high-schooler choose a career.

South Dakota has launched a new website full of information about career camps.  The camps will offer students the chance to learn about careers that include agriculture, business, engineering, health care, trades and technology and information technology.

The career camps will be offered all over South Dakota at various locations.  Students will be able to attend career camps at the University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University, Dakota State University, Mitchell Technical Institute and the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.

Ask any high-school counselor and they will say there is a demand in the state for workers in the areas of information technology, engineering, manufacturing and health care.  Even Governor Dennis Daugaard sees the importance of the career camps in South Dakota.  Governor Daugaard has good advice saying,

it's important for students to learn about in-demand skills before they commit to careers and college.

The website to learn more about South Dakota's Career Camps is www.sd.gov/careercamps .
