The much anticipated start of the racing season around Sioux Falls was stopped due to cold wet weather. The tracks around the area were quiet over the 1st weekend of May.

Nothing ran anywhere. Huset's Speedway cancelled the Sunday May 5 event as early as Saturday night.

Also cancelling scheduled races were Rock Rapids, Hartford, Jackson, Wagner and others. Even as far away as Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, weather took the racing away.

Meanwhile the crews that do the track preparation are working around the clock to get ready for this coming weekend. It's been a challenge for them due to the delay they suffered in the month of April due to snow and ice. Work that normally would be getting done in early April didn't even get started until the past week.

Huset's Speedway is set and ready for 'The Traditional Mother's Day Opener' this Sunday featuring the top class of outlaw sprints. Racing starts at 7PM.
