Huset's Speedway opened up the 2013 season on it's traditional Mother's Day event on Sunday. A nice day was capped off by a cool evening for a very respectable sized crowd in the grandstand.

The track was not ideal for racing by the outlaw sprint feature. On the downside it was slick and didn't allow any passing to speak of. On the plus side, it was smooth. The surface was not rough and no cars got tore up as a result.

The surface was extremely hard. I was hoping some moisture would come up during the event, but it didn't.

Mark Dobmeier of Grand Forks, ND won the outlaw sprint 25 lapper in the #13 car. Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg, PA crossed in 2nd in the Buffalo Wild Wings #82. And young racing sensation Kyle Larson, who excited the crowd with his presence, was held to 3rd driving the Abreu Vineyards 1K. Terry McCarl and Cole Wood rounded out the top 5.

The 360 sprint feature on the other hand had some racing going on. Defending Huset's champion #17b Ryan Bickett was battling with Kaley Gharst out of Decatur, IL in the #6 car. Then surprising everyone was the #2D sprinter of Dusty Ballenger passing both of them in the final turn for the win. that was the race of the night.

Dale Furby of Sioux Falls led all 15 laps of the Street Stocks for the win in his #72 car. It was the #6 of Dustin Kruse of Brandon, SD taking over the lead at the half way point to win the B-Mods. And Dustin Gulbrandson in his #6 Hobby Stock led all 12 laps for the victory.
