Husband of Ex-Sioux Falls Day Care Provider Gets Probation on Meth Case

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The husband of a former in-home day care operator in Sioux Falls has been sentenced to three years of probation for his in role in a methamphetamine operation that was run out of their child care center.

Judge Robin Houwman on Tuesday handed down a suspended sentence to 33-year-old Adam Darger, who earlier pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a place where drugs are kept, sold or used.

Darger and his wife, Jennifer, were arrested in March after a tip from her daughter led police to search their home. She was ordered to spend five years in prison Wednesday.

Minnehaha County State's Attorney Aaron McGowan says officers found a loaded shotgun and drug price lists on Adam Darger's truck. A urine test also showed meth in his system.
