If you tried to grab a bite at a restaurant somewhere in Sioux Falls this past weekend, I hope you were wearing your patient pants. Because my guess is you probably had to wait and wait, then wait a little bit more.

With the Home Show and the Summit League games in Sioux Falls many area dining establishments saw a huge boom in business over the weekend.

Don Smith, owner of Casa Del Ray, near the PREMIER Center said Sunday morning alone he had over 200 people walk through the doors of his restaurant for Sunday brunch.

According to Smith, "We love it when the Summit League comes here. Basketball fans are so great here in Sioux Falls. We’re just lucky to have such a great sports town and the Summit League to decide to put it here in Sioux Falls, we're just ecstatic about that.”

As Summit League games continue again early this week, and other basketball tournaments getting ready to take the court throughout the month of March, Smith plans on bringing in extra staff to help deal with the additional patrons that will be coming through the door.

If I were you, I wouldn't count on getting seated any faster at most Sioux Falls restaurants again this weekend either. On deck this Thursday-Sunday, March 10-13, the 2016 Sioux Empire Sportsmen Show at the Convention Center.
