How Are Crops Doing In South Dakota? Surprisingly Well

Earlier heavy rains were weighing in on the South Dakota crops. But now things are looking much better.

Most major crops in South Dakota are in decent shape as the growing season progresses.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that the state's winter wheat crop is rated 72 percent good to excellent, though it is maturing at a rate well behind the average pace.
Seventy-six percent of South Dakota's soybean crop is in good to excellent shape, and 80 percent of the corn is in those categories.

Pasture and range conditions in the state are rated 84 percent good to excellent.
