It still brings a tear to my eye.

The day Krispy Kreme shut its doors in Sioux Falls was a dark day for me.

Let's go back to the beginning...

I was there, even before it opened on 41st Street, getting a private tour (and tasting!) a few days before the store opened to the general public, back in May of 2003. I was there the day it officially opened to the public. And I went back, again and again, just to watch those little circles of perfection make their way ever so slowly under a waterfall of glaze.

Those were the days!

But then something happened. Suddenly carbohydrates became 'carbs', and that four-letter word became public enemy number-one to every health conscious American from sea-to-shining sea.

Well guess what every Krispy Kreme has an abundance of? Deliciousness and carbs (21 in the Original Glazed doughnut to be exact). Eventually sales began to sag, and the company was forced to close off some of the markets it had expanded into just a few short years earlier.

Just like that, the Sioux Falls Krispy Kreme was gone.

But now, the folks at Krispy Kreme are giving us a chance to experience that heavenly taste right here all over again - if only for one day. In celebration of its 78th birthday, Krispy Kreme is awarding a 'Pop-Up Party' to one U.S. city. To enter:

Tweet a creative, imaginative, compelling, or funny photo, video, or shout-out depicting why your city, state, or hometown should #WinKrispyKreme.

Get your entries in by June 29, 2015.

Do me a favor. If you win, can you please invite me to the party?
