The 4th of July falls on a Tuesday this year. Several area towns will be having their annual celebration or city's fireworks display. It's fun to road trip to small towns and explore what they have to offer. From historic main streets, to flea markets, parks and pools, and hometown cafes - take a fun trip with the family outside of city limits and experience the 4th of July in a small town.

Here are a few celebrations happening around our area. If you don't feel like leaving the city, we've included a couple of fun 4th of July events happening right here in Sioux Falls.

    Vermillion 4th of July Celebration

    Come and watch a huge fireworks display viewable from the Walmart parking lot in Vermillion starting at 10:00 PM. The event is sponsored by the Vermillion Fire Department, Walmart, Chad Smidt American Family Insurance, and the Vermillion Area Chamber & Development Company.

    Uncle Sam Jam in Brookings

    Come to Brookings and celebrate the 4th of July at the Uncle Sam Jam. It's a free event at the Swiftel Center with balloon twisting, pony rides, sand box, crafts for kids and inflatable games. For the adults, check out the beer garden and concessions. Live music from the Rude Band. The big finale fireworks show blasts off at 10:15PM. Bring a lawn chair.

    4th of July Celebration in Menno

    Saturday, July 1 

    • Bean Bag Tournament at 1 p.m. at the baseball field.
    • Alley dance in the alley between the Beer Garden and Schnitz. Featuring music from 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM.

    Sunday, July 2

    • Patriotic Community worship service at 10:00 AM in the City park.
    • Mini Swim Meet in Menno at 6:00 PM
    • Baseball game in Menno vs Lesterville at 7:30 PM.

    Tuesday, July 4

    • Annual Road Race:  The Menno Road Races registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race starting at 8 a.m. at the Fire Hall at 302 S. 5th St.  Races include a 10K, 5K and a kids' one-mile race.
    • Parade:  The annual 4th of July Parade will be held on July 4, beginning at 11 a.m.  The Kiddy Parade starts at 10:45 a.m.
    • Following the parade, the Menno FFA Pork Barbecue serves a meal at the Menno City/School Auditorium and the American Legion serves a meal at the American Legion Hall.
    • Games for youth at the City Park
    • Baseball game at 7 p.m. vs Scotland.
    • Fireworks display at the conclusion of the game.

    Mayor's 4th of July Parade and Picnic

    July 4th at Falls Park

    • 8:00 AM - Fun Run/Walk - a free 5K fun run/walk that beings at Falls Park.
    • 10:00 AM - Parade - Kids can decorate their bike, scooter or wagon in a patriotic theme and help lead the parade.
    • 11:00 AM - Free lunch for the first 5,000 attendees at the Horse Barn parking lot at Falls Park.
    • 11:00 AM - Sioux Falls Municipal Band performs near the Horse Barn.
    • 11:30 AM - Short program with presentation of flags, singing of the National Anthem, and a welcome address by Mayor Mike.
    • 12:00 PM - Mogen's Heroes performance near the Horse Barn at Falls Park.

    Sioux Falls Jaycees 4th of July Celebration

    July 4 at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds

    • Gates open at 5:00 PM. Face painting, inflatables, cards, raffles, Sioux Falls Municipal Band, Van Guard fly over, The Singing Contractors, caricature artist, Phil Baker and more. 
    • Fireworks at 10:00 PM

    Admission is free. A suggested donation of $10 to park. Receive one free raffle ticket with a $10 donation.

    Ramona 4th of July Celebration

    The Ramona Fire Department and City of Ramona will present their celebration on Tuesday, July 4.  The day starts with a 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run at 8:30 AM. The St. John's Lutheran Church will host a burger feed at the school at 11:00 AM. The parade starts at 1:30 PM. Holy Smokes BBQ will be serving lunch and supper on Main Street. There will be games, inflatable water slide, water balloon toss, egg toss, pie eating contest and more.

    Stay for the fireworks at dusk.
