Hank Sr. And Hank Jr. Never Sang Together. Except That They Did. Well, Kind Of

The most legendary artist in country music history is Hank Williams. Of course part if the legend is the fact that tragically he died at the age of 29. A young man. With a young son.

Hank Williams Jr. was just a baby when his Dad died. Hank Jr. has become a legend in his own right and, in my opinion, should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

So of course, Hank and Hank Jr. never got to sing together. Except that actually, they did. Well, kind of.

In 1950-51 Hank Williams recorded a song called 'There's A Tear In My Beer' in Nashville. The self-penned song was never released during his lifetime.

But a great song never dies. In 1989, with the help of emerging technology, Hank Jr. was able to, not only sing with his Dad, but to record a video as well.

With the state of technology today, the video may seem antiquated and quaint, maybe even a bit of a dinosaur.  But back 'in the day', in 1989 when I first saw the video I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

And the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music thought so too, both giving it the Video of the Year award. And a Grammy was 'shared' by Hank and Hank Jr.

How fantastic would it be to record a video with your late Dad, legend or not. Watching this video still gives me chills. A great song and a great video.
