‘Hagar’ Cartoonist, Sioux Falls Resident Chris Browne Writes Kids Book About South Dakota

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The cartoonist who publishes the "Hagar the Horrible" comic strip has written and illustrated his first children's book, and it's about South Dakota.

Chris Browne lives in Sioux Falls with his wife and will release "The Monster Who Ate the State" Sept. 25 in Brookings at the first South Dakota Young Readers Festival.

The book was published by the South Dakota State Historical Society Press.

It's suitable for first- to fourth-grade readers or can be read to younger children.
