The greatest names and the biggest legends in Country Music history have recorded songs written by Guy Clark.

Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Waylon Jennings, Ricky Skaggs, David Allan Coe, Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and on and on and on.

If you noticed, some of the greatest songwriters in Country Music history have recorded songs written by Guy Clark.  Perhaps that might be the ultimate compliment for a songwriter.

Coming out of the state of Texas, Guy has been a mentor to such other great songwriters as Steve Earle and Rodney Crowell.

Guy has released several albums through the years, none of which became Top of the Chart multi-million sellers.  I am proud to say I have most of them, including an anthology CD set released several years ago.

I have always admired the great songwriters, many of which most people have never heard of.  Oh, everyone knows their songs, they just don't know the creative talent behind the magical words and chords.

I've often said that my two all-time favorite songwriters are Kris Kristofferson and Shel Silverstein.  I might add that Guy Clark would most certainly be in my Top 5.

Below is a great example of Guy's superior talent.  Here you have four Country Music Hall of Famers (and all legendary songwriters in their own right) on stage in 1990 singing a Guy Clark song that will, well.....just listen closely to the song.  It's amazing.

Oh, and by the way, Guy is still on the planet at the age of 71.  Do yourself a favor: However you can manage it, get a bunch of Guy Clark songs, grab your favorite adult beverage, and let him take you on a trip through life.
