BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — The Brookings City Council on Tuesday will consider whether to change its code to allow residents to keep chickens in town.

The Brookings Register reports that a group of hobbyists wants the city to approve urban chicken-keeping — hens only — and the council will have to decide whether to change the city ordinance that greatly limits that possibility.

The issue was discussed at two past meetings, and time for public comment has been set aside for Tuesday.

The city council meeting will also deal with the southern expansion of the city.
