Most 10-year old boys are more interested in hanging out with their friends or playing their favorite sports or video games.  But Cash Owen from Blue Earth, Minnesota isn't a typical 10-year old boy.  Give this kid a microphone and his whole world opens up.

The obsession of being an auctioneer started for Cash during a road trip from Montana to Minnesota.  A friend of the family, who is a full-time auctioneer, gave the 5th grader his first lesson as they made the trip, 'selling' everything along the way including cows, pick ups and even fence posts.  Cash's father jokes that he was "ready to get out of that pick up."

But after that first lesson and lots of practicing, it was fairly obvious who was going to step up to the microphone after Cash's parents bought the Blue Earth Stockyards.

Even though Cash's four siblings help at the stockyards, ask any one of them and they will say that Cash was the natural choice for taking the microphone.  All agree that Cash "just likes to talk more" and "he was just born that way".

Which is ironic, because in this type of job, breaths rarely get taken.  But when young Cash was born, he was rushed to Mayo Clinic because he almost took his last breath.   A Mayo Clinic team had to resuscitate Cash a dozen times before placing him on a respirator.

Cash then spent two months in the hospital recovering from surgery because of intestines that didn't completely develop before his parents were able to bring him home.

Even though Cash is living his dream as an auctioneer at the Blue Earth Stockyards, he does have his sights set on a greater goal.  Turning 18-years old, so he can compete in auctioneering competitions.  Until then, he will just keep fine-tuning his craft.
