Does it pay to be cheap? The debate might not be worth your time. Time spent arguing or pondering might be better spent finding a better deal.

Here’s a better question. Do we use everything to its full capacity?

For example there is a little bit of ketchup that inevitably clings to the inside of the bottle. That little bit of product doesn’t have to go unused.

Growing up the when our family reached the end of the ketchup bottle, we knew that our gang was going to have taverns (or BBQ’s, loose meat, enter appropriate term here). Add a little water to the bottle, shake to mix and throw it on some ground beef. Of course if you waited too long to get to the end of the empty bottle, add some more from the new container.

Here’s another food saver. The peanut butter jar always has a bit left that the knife or spoon cannot retrieve. This may not be your style, but you can add a little syrup to the almost empty jar and use a spatula to pull the stubborn stuff off the side. Spread the mix on a cracker or piece of bread and enjoy.

Squeezing that last little dollop out of the toothpaste tube is a timely struggle. Get some scissors and cut that thing open to expose about five days worth of teeth cleaning if you do it right.

Sound obsessive? Admittedly, yes. I figure until you stretch you don’t know how far you can go.
