SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Sioux Empire United Way and 13 Sioux Falls businesses are testing a new wellness program that might be shared with the entire community.

They hired Sioux Falls-based developer interactiveTHINK to design and test a Web-based program using its FitThumb corporate wellness platform called Get Fit.

The Argus Leader reports the program uses a variety of ways to encourage employee engagement in wellness programs, such as team competitions and peer pressure.

For example, a team might figuratively walk the length of the Great Wall of China and can't finish until every member of the team has finished the goal.

Each of the participating organizations will ask up to 50 employees to participate in the Get Fit pilot program, which will take place between October and March.
