Prince’s influence spreads far and wide — even Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were impacted by the pop icon.

Prince died on April 21, and the country couple took some time at their show in Columbus, Ohio, to pay homage to the artist with a performance of his mega-hit "Purple Rain." The event turned into an epic singalong as 20,000 fans joined in on the ballad, with Yearwood leading the crowd from the stage, awash in purple lighting. She even changed out her flannel for a ruffled purple blazer for the occasion.

Brooks gave Yearwood the floor, noting how much he knows she’s always wanted to cover Prince at a show. A self-prolaimed major Prince fan, Yearwood says she and Brooks have played the artist’s songs for years, but never for an audience.

"On the road the last 20 years, we've done a lot Prince during soundchecks, but never live,” she said on stage. "We’re only gonna do a little piece of this, because trust me, I know who the purple one is."

Yearwood took the lead on the vocals while the background vocalists jumped in, adding some flawless harmonies. Prince’s infamous symbol appeared above them toward the end as the crowd roared in adoration for the late legend.

Brooks is on his majorly successful — and lengthy — world tour, stopping in many cities for more than one show and frequently adding more dates. The tour qualified him as the top money-maker in country last year, pulling in about $1 million per concert.
