Funeral Arrangements For Merle Haggard Have Been Announced
Funeral services for country icon Merle Haggard will take place at his home studio in Palo Cedro, California, on Saturday (4/9).
The services will be private and will begin at 1 PM PT. The Tennessean reports that Connie Smith and Marty Stuart will participate in the service by performing a special musical tribute to Haggard.
Stuart said on Thursday, "I found out yesterday that Merle had preplanned his own service. He requested that Connie sing 'Precious Memories,' that me and Connie sing his song 'Silver Wings,' and that I officiate the service. We're honored to do it." Smith added, "It's a privilege. He was a real friend, and we loved him dearly."
Haggard passed away on Wednesday (4/6) at the age of 79.
