A partnership between Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and the Good Samaritan Society will be making homes safer for residents.

According to KDLT TV, this Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24, volunteers will install 100 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in Sioux Falls homes.

The focus is on homes in the Cathedral District due to the area holding the highest percentage of recorded fires each year.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue will provide support in helping with set-up and testing of the devices.

The new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are free to residents thanks to donations.
