In case you hadn't noticed yet, it's starting to look and sound a lot like summer again. Now if it would only start to feel like it on a consistent basis, right?

The trees are all greened up, the bugs are back, heck, even a couple of my co-workers have killer tans already. Wait, they had those back in February, so that doesn't count. Regardless, it is definitely starting to resemble summertime once again in the Sioux Empire.

This weekend we inch just a little bit closer to summer with the South Dakota State Parks Open House Weekend.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 20-22, 2016 every South Dakota State Park will have free park entrance and free fishing. Camping fees and fish limits still apply, however.

Each year the state makes the weekend before Memorial Day weekend a time when people can come out and take a state park for a test drive. It's the perfect opportunity to try a new park for the first time or visit an old favorite on the state.

There's a ton of fun things planned for the entire family in many of the parks throughout the state the entire weekend.

Things like; a campground scavenger hunt, a family fishing event, Kids to Parks Day, even a full moon hike.
