Just over a month ahead of its release, Frankie Ballard has debuted the video for “El Camino,” a brand new track from his forthcoming album entitled El Rio.

The track, which debuted at Entertainment Weekly last week, is a rock-infused breakup anthem dosed heavily with a desire to get out of town.

“I wanna trade it all in on some cheap sunglasses, park an old Airstream on a desert floor / With nothin’ to lose and nobody keepin’ score,” Ballard sings on the track. “So get me a dog and an El Camino, roll a couple dice at the Indian casino / Take this heartache somewhere you’ve never been before.”

“El Camino,” written by Chris Stapleton and Grammy-winning songwriter Lee Thomas Miller, rang true for Ballard. “Look, I’ve been there!” he says, laughing. “I’ve been busted up by some saucy minx and I’ve had to cut and run,” he told EW. “This guy is heartbroken. He’s been done wrong, doggonit. Somebody kicked him to the curb. And now he realizes he’s got to go find something else out there that he can do and that’s going to make him happy.”

El Rio is Ballard’s third effort as a solo artist. As reported back in April, Ballard and his band decamped from Nashville and headed to El Paso, Texas, to record the album. “I’ve done a lot of recording in Nashville and other places,” Ballard told The Boot’s Gayle Thompson. “But I really wanted to get out and away and try to focus and eliminate some distractions that come from recording in Nashville just in an effort to make the music better.”

El Rio is set for release on June 10. In the meantime, readers can listen to “El Camino” below via YouTube.
