Former Yankton High School Student Sentenced for False Bomb Threat

YANKTON, S.D. (AP) — A former student accused of making a false bomb threat at Yankton High School has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and will not spend time in jail as long as he stays out of trouble.

Eighteen-year-old Tanner Termansen initially faced a much more serious felony charge that carried a maximum sentence of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.

The Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan reports that Termansen on Wednesday was given a 14-day suspended jail sentence and fined $166. He also was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Authorities say the bomb threat in late April was found written on a table at the school library. Students were held in classrooms while police and school officials investigated.
