RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Former South Dakota School of Mines and Technology president Harvey Fraser has died.

The Rapid City school says Fraser died Sunday at the age of 97. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Fraser became the school's first dean of engineering in July 1965. He was named president the next year and served until 1975.

Current Mines President Heather Wilson says she has heard many stories about Fraser — all told with laughter and affection. She says he will be missed by colleagues, friends and former students.
