KENNEBEC, S.D. (AP) - A former clerk of court for Lyman County in south central South Dakota has been sentenced for stealing nearly $1,200 in fines paid by traffic violators.

The Daily Republic newspaper reports that 58-year-old Denise Anderson was ordered to serve eight days in jail and pay restitution.

Authorities say Anderson took the money between September 2008 and June 2010, while she was serving as clerk of court. She was fired in January 2011.
