“Suspicious” Fire in House Early Tuesday in Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue crews were called out early Tuesday to a report of a  structure fire in the 1000 block of South Menlo Avenue, and investigators say it may be a case of arson.

Battalion Chief Travis Thom says the first crews on the scene around 3:20am found light smoke coming from a window of the single-story house, and they had the fire under control in about 10 minutes.

The house is vacant, and Jeff Helm of Sioux Falls Fire Rescue says it's being called "suspicious."

Helm says the investigation is continuing, and he says anyone with information is asked to contact Sioux Falls Fire Rescue at 367-8093 or Sioux Falls Police  at 367-7007.
