Jimmy Hoffa is the former leader of the Teamsters with alleged organized crime involvement who suddenly disappeared back in 1975.  It was big news.

As a young kid I remember this being in the headlines.  And it seems like every few years there is a new tip and new headlines.

Now according to Fox News the FBI and others are digging up a Michigan field in hopes of discovering the remains of labor leader Jimmy Hoffa.

ABC News is reporting:

According to Mobster Tony Zerilli, 85, said earlier this year that the former Teamsters president was buried in a vacant lot in northern Oakland Township, which is about 20 miles from the restaurant where Hoffa was last seen in July 1975.  Zerilli added that the plan was to move Hoffa’s body at a later date, but it never materialized.  "Once he was buried here, he was buried and they let it go," he said. Zerilli was in prison at the time.

This is one of those bigger than life stories that Hollywood hits are made of.  Over the years many movies have been made about the life and disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa including: “Hoffa”, “Where’s Jimmy Hoffa”, “Jimmy Hoffa – The True Story", "Blood Fued", and the 1978 Sylvester Stallone flick “F.I.S.T."
