PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota's federal lawmakers are still discussing Planned Parenthood and the Iran nuclear deal during their August break, but at county fairs and coffee shops rather than in the halls of Congress.

Members of the all-Republican delegation have dozens of events scheduled from Buffalo to Parker over the congressional recess. Lawmakers say the break allows them to hear from regular South Dakotans before they return to Washington in September.

U.S. Senators Mike Rounds and John Thune and U.S. Representative Kristi Noem say they enjoy being back. The lawmakers have schedules that will bring them across the state from coffee shops to meetings with businesses and employees.

Sioux Falls resident Judy Harig spoke to Noem at a county fair. She says values that her representatives are accessible.
