Fatal Crash on Interstate 29 in Sioux Falls
A Sioux Falls man died around 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 in Sioux Falls.
The Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Jeremy Johnson of Sioux Falls was northbound on I-29, just south of West 12th Street, when he lost control of his vehicle.
Johnson’s vehicle entered the median and then slid sideways before entering the southbound lanes, where it was struck on the passenger side by an SUV in the middle lane driven by 72-year-old Loren Converse of Arlington. The impact split Johnson’s Crown Victoria in two and both halves caught fire.
Johnson was not wearing a seat belt. He was thrown and he suffered fatal injuries.
Converse and his passenger, 72-year-old Rebecca Converse of Arlington, had minor injuries. They were wearing seat belts.
