The nonprofit Farm Rescue is getting a large donation from the Otto Bremer Foundation. The donation totals $150,000 over two years and will be used for general operations.

The North Dakota based group assists family farmers in the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa and eastern Montana. Crews with the nonprofit set up camp on the farms of injured or ill farmers, doing their planting or harvesting work rather than handing out money.

The group also assists farmers who have been victims of natural disasters.

Volunteers help the farmers plant and harvest up to 1000 acres of crops free of charge.

The nonprofit reached a milestone in the fall when it helped its 300th farm family.
