PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Families who have owned their farms or ranchers for 100 or 125 years will have the chance to be recognized during the South Dakota Fair on Aug. 29.

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and the South Dakota Farm Bureau want to honor farm and ranch families who have continuously owned at least 80 acres for 100 or 125 years.

Century farms and ranches have been recognized at the State Fair in Huron since 1984, and more than 2,400 farms and ranches have been honored so far. Two years ago, the quasqui-centennial recognition was added for families who have farmed for 125 years.

Applications can be obtained online at the Farm Bureau's website at http://www.sdfbf.org/

Applications are due by Aug. 13.
