Families Ignoring the Shutdown at National Parks
What government shutdown? from sea to shining sea families on the road visiting America’s National Parks are left in dismay after learning that the parks are “closed”.
Not all families, apparently.
This dad (pictured above), along with his family, recently visited the Badlands National Park in South Dakota. A sign greeted them with the words, “By order of the federal government, this park is closed due to the temporary and partial shutdown.”
His response? “Bahahaha! Nobody here to stop us!! Badlands, South Dakota. Government won’t ruin our trip!”
He was right in the fact that there was no one there to stop them. My sons and I visited the Badlands on Thursday afternoon and saw the same sign. The cones had already been moved and vehicles were traveling freely.
We drove to the nearest scenic overlook and snapped a few pictures then returned to Interstate 90 to continue our trip. We don’t know if the entire loop was open to tourists.
Here’s a few more pics of some hard-working American’s trying to enjoy the National Parks despite the on-going government shutdown.
Meanwhile, in the rest stop known as “the internet”, users took to social media to meme the now famous dad standing up the government:
This sign was spotted in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and posted on Twitter with the caption. “My area goes from sea to shining sea.”
