It's the gem of the city, our city's namesake, the Falls of the Big Sioux River are a tourist destination for anyone visiting our area. For the locals, it's where you venture for a Sunday afternoon stroll, a picturesque background for a photo shoot and even a romantic backdrop for an engagement.

Thousands of people visit Falls Park every year. You might drive through Winter Wonderland, attend the Festival of Cultures or take in a 'Sounds at the Falls' concert at the Queen Bee Mill. If you do stop by Falls Park, make sure you sign the guestbook at the Falls Park Visitor Information Center. They keep track of the number of visitors to the park.

For the month of July, the Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau tallied 38,380 people who entered the Visitor Information Center, the highest for any month since first opening in January 2000.

The Sioux Falls CVB estimates that only 1/3 of visitors to Falls Park actually enter the Visitor Information Center.
