The Dakota Academy of Performing Arts at the Washington Pavilion (DAPA) will be performing a production of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” outdoors in the Pavilion’s Sculpture Garden June 14-16. Thirteen of the area’s strongest young actors, ages 13-18, will make up the entire cast of characters in what is arguably Shakespeare’s most magical script.

Performances will be held on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 at 7 p.m. and matinee performances will be held on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 at 2 p.m.. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased online at www.washingtonpavilion.org or by calling the Washington Pavilion’s Box Office at (605)367-6000.The group of young actors is rehearsing for two weeks leading up to the performances and are working with Augustana theatre professor and Bare Bodkins Shakespeare Company Artistic Director, Jayna Fitzsimmons.

This is the first Shakespeare performance opportunity of its kind DAPA at the Pavilion has offered. With a mission to provide opportunities for young people to excel in the performing arts, DAPA at the Pavilion works with over 300 young actors and musicians annually and performs for thousands throughout the community.
