Enjoy a day of country, gospel, and variety music Saturday, July 15th at the air-conditioned Elk Point Jefferson School Middle School Gym, 402 S. Douglas, from 11 am – 9:00 p.m. Featured artists will be nationally renowned Nashville Singer/Songwriter Terry S. Smith who is famous for Johnny Cash’s recording of “Far Side Banks of Jordan”. He is also the National Traditional Country Music Association Songwriter of the Year in 1995 and 1996. A Songwriter with a Different Touch” is a superior performer whose music has been recorder by Johnny and June Carter Cash, Roy Acuff, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kitty Wells, Chris Le Dous, The Statler Brothers, Kris Kristofferson, Patty Loveless and others. They have been back up duo for international, national and local fiddlers, singers and instrumentalists for 20 years and have attended the Old Time Fiddlers Contest in Yankton held in September for many years. Featured Duo is Don Joy and Melanie Lynn from Lynchburg, Missouri. You will enjoy their classic country, gospel and original songs and harmony. They have hooked up musically to reach a new level of recordings from various artists in the traditional country music world including a tribute to Wade Jackson.
Excited to announce the ever-popular Laurie Larson & the Outback Band from Nebraska will perform at 11 am. OutBack is a professional variety band who enjoy the people they entertain, as much as the music they perform. From young to old, this band has music you will love and their crowd participation and spur of the moment comedy always brings chuckles and laughter. They will also back up Don and Melanie at 1 pm! Be sure to bring your dancing shoes!!!
Also on the schedule is local singer entertainer Elaine Peacock of Elk Point, who is a recording artist and has released 8 CDs since 2003. She sings and entertains regularly in the Midwest performing gospel, Patsy Cline, Christmas and Patriotic, Childrens music and Hit Songs by her producer Dennis Morgan who wrote hit songs for Barbara Mandrell, Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Pride! Elaine is also a square dance caller, 2009 NTCMA & 2010 South Dakota Hall of Fame Inductee. Joining her on the piano is Elk Point Mayor, instrumental recording artist, and 2015 South Dakota Country Music Hall of Famer, Isabel Trobaugh!
Entertaining us with his original and country songs is popular Sioux City Singer/Songwriter Jack Langley! Jack is the 2005 recipient of the Danny Matousek Lifetime Achievement Award and Inductee into The Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005!
Also gracing our stage is Francis Hahn, of Mapleton IA. Francis is a former CIA agent, Country singer/songwriter, who had writing contract with House Of Cash, was inducted into "National Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame" in 2002 and the "Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016”.
Newcomer this year is singer/songwriter and guitarist Steve Bankey, owner of Two Bird Dog Recording Studio, Dakota Dunes, SD and member of the Canadian Stranger Band. He has produced numerous albums for area singers and groups, including Christmas in the Sioux 3!
Our young performers sharing their talent this year will be Christian Scholl of Sioux Falls, SD, 14 year old Olivia Johnson, McCool Junction NE and 15 year old Ty’Kayeh Sterling of Wakefield NE.
The Masons FAMOUS ROAST BEEF DINNER is served at 5:00 pm. (carry outs available) Concessions from beginning at 11am, a Circle Jam Area for any musician/singer, AND CRAFTS!!!! So….. Bring your lawn chairs, a free will donation and enjoy excellent music to benefit Elk Point Masonic Lodge #3 High School Scholarship program and the Youth SDCHIP program.
