Early Voting, Absentee Voting: What You Need to Know
Absentee Voting is available starting Friday September 23, 2016. In South Dakota, early voting via absentee voting is allowed for nearly anyone. Here's what you need to know to cast your vote early:
Voting in Person early via Absentee Ballot
- Bring your Driver's License or picture ID for proof of Identification
- Go to your local County Auditor's Office to vote up till November 7, 2016, no later than 5:00 PM.
- You must be registered to vote.
Voting via mail with an Absentee Ballot
- If you are out of the country, overseas in the military or not able to attend a polling location on election day, you may be able to vote absentee by requesting a ballot from the county where you are registered to vote.
- Download the absentee ballot request form and send it to the County Auditor's office.
- You must be registered to vote.
