RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash on a Pennington County road south of Rapid City has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.

The Rapid City Journal reports 20-year-old Jacobi Branich is accused of driving drunk on April 12 and losing control of his pickup truck, which rolled in a ditch south of Rapid City.

The Highway Patrol says 19-year-old passenger Dara Reynolds was killed, and the five other people in the vehicle including Branich suffered minor injuries.

Branich appeared in court on Thursday. His attorney Jennifer Albertson told Judge Robert Mandel that Branich's blood-alcohol level was almost five times the DUI threshold for drivers under 21 years old.

Branich is slated to be sentenced on July 29. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
