Yikes. I'm not a meteorologist but this model from Pivotal Weather looks like we might be seeing a white Christmas. Keep in mind, that this is not a model that local meteorologists put much stock in - it's merely one scenario - and one they call a "long shot."

Snowfall amounts of 20 inches will not fall at one time - but rather over a few different times. There is snow in the forecast for next Monday, but the brunt of it should stay in Iowa and Minnesota.

The next system could roll through on Friday, December 18th. That's the day many of the area schools will get out early anyway to begin Christmas break.

Then, a few days before Christmas Eve, the third snowfall could push it's way in.

The total over theses snowfalls could reach just over 20 inches.

Of course, this is just one model. But white Christmas dreamers are getting excited.
