Eight-time Grammy winner Dolly Parton is scheduled to be honored as the 2019 MusicCares Person of the Year, a tribute that will take place on Feb. 8 of next year. She marks the first artist from the Nashville music community to be honored by the organization.

Parton is being recognized for her creative accomplishments, as well as her longtime support of a variety of causes through her Dollywood Foundation — a standout being her Imagination Library, which over the past two decades has provided more than 100 million books to children in need.

Proceeds from the annual gala, which will be held at Los Angeles' Convention Center two days before the 61st Grammy Awards, will go to MusiCares, which provides support for the music community in times of need.

"I am so excited and humbled to be honored as MusiCares Person of the Year,” says Parton in a statement. “It's even more special knowing the gala benefits music people in need. I can't wait to hear all of the great artists singing my music.”

Established by the Recording Academy in 1989, the MusiCares Foundation was designed to provide a safety net for music professionals, including resources and services covering a wide range of financial, medical, and personal emergencies. The Person of the Year Gala was introduced in 1991, and to date has raised more than $90 million for MusiCares' wide range of programs throughout its history while also drawing national attention to the Foundation’s critical life-changing work.

This year's honoree was Fleetwood Mac, while 2017 recognized the late Tom Petty.
