Some Lake Okoboji snowmobilers found out the hard way that even the frigid, cold temperatures as of late was not enough to stay on the top side of the ice.

Arnolds Park-Okoboji Underwater Search and Dive Team was called shortly before 5:00 PM Sunday when they received word that two men went through the ice on snowmobiles.

Upon arrival they found one man was clinging onto the edge of the ice sheet; the other was hanging onto a piece of ice that was floating in the water.

The Underwater Search and Dive Team deployed the department's air boat and within about 17 minutes, according to KTIV News, had rescued the two men.

This should serve as a good reminder to be extra cautious when traversing frozen lakes in the area with snowmobiles as condition and ice thickness can vary greatly even with the recent cold snap.
