He's worn a suit more than a jersey in this part of his career, but the Minnesota Timberwolves will be adding a former MVP to their roster.

ESPN is reporting that the Minnesota Timberwolves will sign free agent guard Derrick Rose to a contract for the rest of the 2018 season. Rose, who started the year in Cleveland, appeared in 16 games and averaged 10 points before he was traded to Utah. The Jazz then promptly released him two days later.

During his injured time away from the Cavaliers, Rose was even questioning whether he would want to continue to try to play basketball. Now that he's had some time in free agency to think about it, it appears that he is ready to try to get back on the court.

His breakout years occurred in Chicago from 2008-2011. Rose won the MVP award during the 2010-11 season, and he was coached that year by current Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau. He was also a three-time NBA All-Star from 2010-2012.

Rose appeared in 64 games for the New York Knicks during the 2016-17 season before it ended due to a torn meniscus.

In total, Rose has averaged 19 points/game over his career.
