DELL RAPIDS, S.D. (AP) — A newly formed company that wants to expedite the delivery process of fresh produce will be breaking ground in South Dakota.

The Governor's Office of Economic Development says Midwest Fresh Logistics will soon begin construction of a 20,000-square-foot facility at the recently established Fiegen Development Park in Dell Rapids. The building will include office space and a refrigerated area to handle produce.

Ben Bricko is the company's president. He says the facility's goal will be to sort produce coming from states like California, Texas and Washington and transfer it to trucks that will deliver it to wholesalers and regional distribution centers in places including Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota and Illinois.

Bricko says the facility will begin operations in the spring, weather permitting. The company will initially hire eight to 10 people.
