An 18-year-old Dell Rapids man is in a Sioux Falls hospital with injuries described as serious after a rollover early this Tuesday morning east of Humboldt.

Captain James Hoekman of the Minnehaha County Sheriff's office says a passerby came upon a 1999 Buick Park Avenue on its roof around 4:12 a.m., near the intersection of State Highway 38 and 459th Avenue.

"The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 38, appeared to drift off the roadway, over-correct, causing the vehicle to roll into the north ditch.  The driver - the only occupant of the vehicle - 18-year-old Dylan Lesselyoung from rural Dell Rapids who is currently enrolled in Mitchell Technical Institute, was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle."

Hoekman says Lesselyoung was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries. He says alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, and the investigation is still going on.
